Hypnosis is a grouping of techniques, some ancient
and some quite modern. What it not is sleep, a state where you are out of control, zombie-like, mind control, or brainwashing. People are not receptive to suggestions that go
against their morals or values---because receptivity is one of the
ingredients of success in hypnosis.You can always come out of hypnosis anytime you wish simply by opening your eyes.
It IS a naturally
occurring state that is very focused, and it can be a relaxed and also excited state.
Stage Hypnosis is using those techniques for entertainment purposes. it is important to remember that those who volunteered to go up on stage knew they were going to be asked to do something silly. These people are not relaxed, they are excited and having a good time. They have been specifically selected by the hypnotist out of all the volunteers because they went into trance the quickest, and will make him/her look good. Entertainment only.
